Bridging the Gap - NECC's skills policy report published in November 2011, highlighted existing skills gaps within our region's young people in terms of core literacy, numeracy and communication skills along with general employability skills.

With youth unemployment reaching worrying heights NECC in partnership with Gateshead College, Nissan and Teesside University invite members to take part in this event to facilitate initial and ongoing collaboration between businesses and the regional education community which is key to bridging the gap.

Dr. Irwin Stelzer – Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute, Washington D.C. and Sunday Times columnist - is to give a keynote address in Newcastle following the publication of 'Connecting for Growth' a report by Frontier Economics in 2011, representing Heathrow Airport.

Dr. Stelzer will provide a snapshot on the state of the world economy and argue for aviation policy focused on stimulating regional economic growth.
