Newcastle International Airport

It was in 1925 that the Airport started life in Cramlington as a mere airfield for the Newcastle Aero Club.
Ten years later Newcastle Airport was officially opened on 26 July 1935 in Woolsington.
Nowadays, Newcastle International is the region's largest airport handling millions of passengers, employing 3000 people, and pumping almost £400M into the regional economy each year. The airport boasts a choice of over 85 destinations worldwide, which includes a first ever long-haul scheduled service to Dubai from Newcastle.
Working with NECC
Newcastle International Airport has worked in support of NECC to raise the profile of the Go Global international trade campaign . Launched in conjunction with The Journal, Go Global was an initiative launched to encourage business across the North East that were not currently engaged in trading overseas to look at foreign markets as new opportunities for business development.
Newcastle International Airport continually works to ensure our region stays at the forefront of international trade travel, connecting with an expanding number of international areas of commerce. The Newcastle International Airport and NECC continue to address measures across the region in order to maintain connectivity and are invovled with regoinal transport policy in line with the objectives of the NECC 2010 Manifesto .
Testimonial
"Newcastle Airport is delighted to be a NECC Partner, as it allows the regions gateway airport to be better involved in regional affairs, linked into key policy discussions, network with other key businesses, and enjoy direct access to nationally important decision makers. We are also keen to work with NECC and members to shape government decisions on aviation and maximise the opportunities afforded to the region by the Airport."
