Northern Rock plc


The Northern Rock Building Society was formed in 1965 as a result of the merger of a couple of building societies.

In 1987 the Northern Rock Building was converted into a public limited company, listed on the London Stock Exchange and authorised under the Banking Act 1987.

The Northern Rock is now a mortgage and savings bank, lending to customers in the UK through a powerful network consisting of over 70 branches plus postal, telephone and Internet operations.

Working with NECC

Northern Rock supports NECC by contributing towards many of NECC's reports, campaigns and initiatives, such as Investing in the Recovery, NECC Fiscal Policy Report . Northern Rock has also provided its support with the preparation of the Generating Growth Energy Policy Report and, on a much broader scale, it continues to provide community links which are vital to the success of our region's businesses.
