Chamber members took a step back in time at popular North East attraction Beamish, The Living Museum of the North yesterday for the popular Coffee and Connections event.
Members were transported on period transport to the welfare hall in The 1950s Town and viewed the exhibits, made new connections, listened to 1950s music and tried on 1950s costume. They also had their hair styled into an elegant 1950s updo and had a go at mini golf in Coronation Park.
Liz Peart, Partnerships Officer at Beamish Museum, shared exciting developments happening at the museum, including new 1950s exhibits and an expansion to their 1820s area.
Liz said: “It was wonderful to welcome and host the North East England Chamber of Commerce and fellow members for the Coffee and Connections event.
“It was a great chance to connect with new and familiar faces and talk about the exciting developments happening at the museum, including the opening of our electrical repair shop, toy shop and cinema in our 1950s Town, which we broke ground for recently.
“Our 1820s developments include a Drover’s Tavern, which will offer Georgian inspired food and drink, visitors will be able to stay overnight, have a go at pottery and see the blacksmith in action.”
Event sponsors, North East Business Resilience Centre, shared information on their business and facts around 1950s computing and how it has evolved.
Coffee and Connections is a relaxed mix and mingle networking event led by the Chamber Women’s Leadership Forum as part of our Inspiring Females programme of events.
The Chamber’s Inspiring Females Awards will launch in late May. Categories include Apprentice of the Year, Inspiring Female Business Leader of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to the North East.
