Accessing Grants: Business support and grants available in the region

We know that businesses are facing increased financial pressures, we have put together a list of available grants businesses can apply to in the region to help their business to grow, protect jobs or to reduce energy costs.

Home – Open North Foundationoffer grants to small and early stage businesses which have a compelling case but have been adversely affected by recent economic shocks. They have a particular emphasis on supporting personnel development, training and apprenticeships supporting existing jobs and business sustainability. Applications would be viewed more favourably if they were also able to demonstrate future job and business growth. 

North of Tyne Innovation Recovery Grant – North of Tyne Innovation Recovery Grant (ntca-innovationrecoverygrant.co.uk)funding projects that have potential to safeguard and create quality jobs, build a more inclusive economy and/or contribute towards the net zero agenda  applications are open to SMEs and Social Enterprises working in any sector based in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. 

Tees Valley – SSW Funding UnitOver £10.3M is now available for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tees Valley to access training seeking training to support a business growth plan.  

Business based in Country Durham can apply here Apply Now – beep – Business Energy Efficiency Project UK Net for a fully-funded energy audit for your business 

BEST aims to reduce energy use and costs in small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland and Sunderland through fully-funded energy efficiency audit.  The current programme is full however, please apply here [email protected]  , as they are working on funding options to continue the programme and will keep you updated. 

SME Energy Efficiency SchemeSME Energy Efficiency Scheme – Tees Valley Business  If you are an SME based in the Tees Valley, this scheme can support you with a fully funded energy efficiency audit and expert advice. You could also be eligible for a grant to help you with the upfront costs of your energy saving project. 

North East Local Enterprise Partnership – have a list of grants and funding available to businesses Finance & Funding – Growth Hub (northeastgrowthhub.co.uk)
