APPG Child of the North report
Date published:
A report published on 24 January, by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Child of the North has revealed children in the North are more likely to live in poverty than anywhere else in England.
If Government is serious about its levelling up agenda we must to see action to make sure children in the region can access opportunities and have the same life chances as anyone else.
In Yorkshire and the Humber and the North East, child poverty is now the highest it has been since 2000/2001.
If we are to address issues faced by businesses such as the skills gap and long-term health problems in the region we need to tackle the issue of child poverty.
With the cost of living crisis putting increased pressure on vulnerable families and children we need to see urgent action from the Government in the upcoming Budget in March and support the report’s recommendations.
At the Chamber we have created a cost of living resource including a financial wellbeing toolkit to help businesses support their employees at this difficult time. Access it here.
