An executive director at the Chamber has earned a place on the 2024 Northern Power Women Awards Power List.

Aneela Ali, executive director of finance and corporate services, made the lifelong Power List, which recognises trailblazers who promote the benefits of having a gender balanced workplace and shift the dial towards a more equitable world for women in work.

Aneela has joined a shortlist of 30 individuals, including role models such as Newcastle University’s Jane Robinson, who were chosen by a panel of judges from more than 1,400 nominations.

Aneela said: “I’m so honoured to join the Northern Power Women Awards Power List alongside other amazing and influential women in the region.

“Beyond boardrooms and financial reports, my passion extends to dismantling barriers to inclusivity and shaping a future where diversity and excellence thrive. As a strong advocate for women in business, I’m so proud to see positive change being recognised by these awards.”

She added: “Good luck to all of the fantastic finalists, I’m very much looking forward to sharing in everyone’s successes as we all work together to create a more inclusive business environment in the region.”

Aneela, who was highly commended at the British Asian Professional Awards in 2023, is responsible for strategic financial forecasting at the Chamber, developing and implementing resource strategies to ensure long term stability, and leads on the Chamber’s commercial activities.

Other Northern Power Women Award categories include Disruptor for Good, Agent of Change, One to Watch and Person with Purpose.

Now in its eighth year, the awards exist to promote amazing business women and organisations of all sizes and sectors across the north of England who are working towards a more gender equal world.

The 2024 Northern Power Women Award ceremony will take place on 18 March at Manchester Central Convention Complex.
