We have today (28 February) announced the launch of our Business Awards, which bring together incredible success stories from a range of regional businesses.

Featuring new categories for 2024, the awards celebrate growth, innovation, technology, diversity and creativity, and highlight the achievements of the North East’s business community.

Businesses that enter our awards will have a chance to receive regional and national recognition, as national category winners become automatic finalists for the British Chambers of Commerce Awards 2024.

John McCabe, Chamber chief executive, said: “The Chamber’s Business Awards are always a real highlight for me. It’s important for us to recognise the region’s businesses, and the people working in those businesses, who are all helping to build a stronger, fairer North East.

“Now is the time to shout about the achievements and determination of the region’s business community to succeed, and we will continue to promote the scale and range of opportunities that the North East has to offer. I wish all entrants the very best of luck.”

Regional award categories include small business of the year, larger business of the year, community business of the year, entrepreneur of the year, rising star and business of the year.

National category winners enjoy an automatic finalist position at the British Chambers of Commerce awards. These categories include people and work business of the year, digital revolution business of the year, green innovation business of the year, international trade business of the year and local economy of the future business of the year.

The awards, now in their fourth year, are sponsored by Bernicia. The housing association is a long-standing associate sponsor of the Chamber awards and has committed to supporting the event for a further three years.

John Johnston, Bernicia chief executive, said: “There’s lots of fantastic businesses across the region doing great things every day, helping the North East thrive.

“The Chamber Business Awards shine a light on these achievements and put North East businesses on a national stage, showcasing innovation, collaboration and our shared determination to help the region grow and prosper.

“We know the North East is a great place to live, work and do business, and, as an associate sponsor, we’re delighted to be part of championing this. We wish all entrants the very best of luck, and look forward to sharing in your successes.”

Closing dates for entries is 12noon on 17 April and the awards final will be held on 27 June 2024 at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music.

Our popular Inspiring Females Awards will also be launched in May and the final will be held in November.
