Tell us about a recent business success.
Golf clubs are spread out in the most remote and magical parts of the UK, often difficult to access. So in a wet and chilly May we hired a campervan and set off with our toddler cold-calling.
We stumbled upon a golf club that was very humble, but in a beautiful location, unbeknown to us it had recently bought by bitcoin founder, and had 40,000 international members. Well needless to say we celebrated with a chip shop supper that night, and it tasted so good as the rains and winds could be felt shaking the campervan.
Why are you a Chamber Member?
As a sportsman, I was easily able to access contacts for selling in sports events/shops.
However in terms of corporate connections, all my connections are in the Middle East, Saudi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Asia, China and Thailand. I used to distribute in the Middle East for Ping, Tietlist, Ralph Lauren and many more so my contacts in sport and Internationally are sound. But regarding corporate contacts in the UK I am struggling. I have a great product as well I hope that if anyone has sponsored events after meeting with us we will be there go to to supply apparel and accessories! We go the extra mile to meet the needs of our customers.
I probably haven’t got time to tell this story, but there were huge storms in Dubai recently and my husband literally swam through the car park to rescue a customers order and drove to a different emirate to get embroidery and send it to the UK! We certainly didn’t make profit on that sale, but is wasn’t about that. It’s about building trust, and proving no matter the circumstances we will deliver.
