The Chamber’s first Summer Dinner and House Party took place at Wynyard Hall last night (5 September), and saw the stunning stately home transformed for the occasion.
We welcomed more than 500 regional business leaders to the first-of-its-kind event in the North East, which reflects the Chamber’s ever-evolving events programme, and modern and inclusive approach to business.
Guests were treated to a three-course dinner and various entertainment throughout the venue, including fire and aerial performers, jazz players and a live band.
Speaking at the event, John McCabe, chief executive of the North East Chamber of Commerce, said: “You’ve probably noticed by now, this is a little different to anything we’ve done before. Indeed, we don’t think a business event of this nature, on this scale, has ever been attempted in the North East.
“No black ties. No pulpits. No speeches… we just want you to have a great time together, enjoying this magnificent building, some delicious food and amazing entertainment.”
Daniel Marsden-Knight, head of marketing, comms and events at the Chamber, said: “We were the first to host an event for over 800 regional business leaders in Durham Cathedral. Now we’ve transforming our corporate entertainment offer with our Summer Dinner and House Party.”
“It’s important for us at the Chamber to keep moving forward. This event reflects our modern and inclusive approach to business, as well as our dedicated approach to providing the best possible service for our members.”
The Summer Dinner and House Party is sponsored by Chamber patrons Womble Bond Dickinson, Gateshead College and Pulsant. Intuit is the small business supporter for the event, opening up the opportunity for participation of small businesses in this annual celebration.
Rob Burlison, Director, Global Corporate Affairs and Strategic Initiatives at Intuit, said: “Small businesses are the backbone of the North East economy and that is why Intuit is delighted to be the small business sponsor for the Chamber’s Summer Dinner and House Party.
“It’s really important that small businesses have representation at events like these and continue to be involved in discussions about the future of the region. We’re excited to play our part in that.”
