Tyne Bridge Project
Date published:
The restoration of the Tyne Bridge officially got underway on 2 April with the bridge being reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction. The lane closures has halved the capacity on this major transport route which is used by up to 70,000 vehicles a day, and people are being urged to plan ahead and switch to public transport where possible to reduce delays.
Newcastle City Council, Gateshead Council and Esh Construction have developed a Stakeholder Information Pack which includes information on the project, travel advice, FAQs as well as a contact for any large employers that would like help with travel planning.
