Join us for our 2nd installment of our Tourism and Visitor Economy Special Interest Group, which will build on the momentum from session 1!
Building on the momentum from our first session, we are excited to work with our members on our Tourism and Visitor Economy Special Interest Group, together with our friends from Northumberland National Park Authority.
With tourism contributing £6.6 billion to the North East economy and supporting nearly 63,000 jobs, the sector is of vital importance to the regional economy. Across the wider geographic North East, we take pride in our visitor economy, with many huge events taking place right across the region – from the Opening Ceremony of the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Sunderland (2025), multiple Premier League and Championship football clubs, as well as Women’s Super League football teams.
We will have opportunity to discuss some further details of the proposed overnight visitor levy with NEMSA, as well as hearing from a guest speaker.
Agenda:
09:30 Arrival and Networking
10:00 Roundtable introductions, recap session 1
10:10 Discussion with NEMSA: Proposed overnight visitor levy
10:50 Break
11:05 Guest speaker (TBC)
12:00 Close
Format: This is a discussion based event, where you will have opportunity to contribute to the wider discussion.
Dress code: We don’t stipulate a dress code at our events, but we’d recommend you dress like you’re going to meet new clients. The most important this is that you're comfortable.
Behaviour & Conduct: Our events create an inclusive space for individuals and organisations to meet where we expect all our attendees to behave with courtesy and respect, to both each other and Chamber colleagues.
Join the North East Chamber of Commerce this September and October for a three-part conference mini-series exploring how the ambitions of Unlocking the North East Economy are being translated into action.
