Flying the flag for the North East

We went big and it paid off. The Chamber proudly led the largest regional delegation at this year’s British Chambers of Commerce Global Annual Conference in London.
With over 500 delegates, the conference brought together business leaders, policymakers and partners for a day of high-impact discussion, ambition and collaboration. It also saw the launch of the BCC’s new Blueprint for Growth report, setting out a bold, practical vision for unlocking the UK’s economic potential, informed by insights from over 630 businesses and 51 Chambers.
From impactful networking to showcasing our region’s strengths on a national platform, the North East was both seen and heard, as the new UK trade strategy was unveiled and political leaders set out the challenges and opportunities ahead for British business.
Our very own Chief Executive, John McCabe, also took the opportunity to put the North East front and centre by asking the Prime Minister a direct question on the future of devolution and the role of regional business in driving growth. See here.
Chair of Partners, Dr Suzanne Hague, principal lecturer at Teesside University, said, “The BCC Global Conference is an event I genuinely look forward to. Each year brings fresh insights from senior leaders, and this time we heard directly from the Prime Minister himself. The speakers were first class, the breakout sessions were informative, and it was fantastic to meet other NECC members. Being part of a strong North East group in Westminster was the real highlight for me. We were out in force, and it was great.”
From welcome receptions at the London Chamber and the House of Lords, to speeches from the Prime Minister, Bank of England Governor and opposition leaders, it was a powerful 24 hours raising our collective voice.
