Member Spotlight: Blue Moon Marketing
Date published:
This week we caught up with the team at the marketing agency to find out how they’re going further with Chamber membership.
Where are you based?
We are based in Sunderland!
How many employees do you have?
We have 7 people in our team!
Give us a brief overview of your business.
Blue Moon is a Fractional Marketing Agency.
This means we specialise in providing organisations who have limited or no Marketing expertise in-house with flexible access to a wide range of brand, design and communications expertise – for the ‘fraction’ of time they need it each month, and a fraction of the cost you’d have to invest if looking to recruit for in-house roles.
Clients partner with us under this model for a wide variety of reasons. Sometimes it’s as simple as just needing some time back in their working week to focus on other priorities – knowing their marketing is in safe hands. Generally however we’ll fulfil a combination of:
1) a strategic role – advising at board level as a CMO would do
2) a creative role – providing on demand studio resources for design & artwork needs
3) an activation role – ensuring any planned comms activity happens, and is effective!
We’re really proud to be the trusted ‘outsourced-in house’ marketing partner for over 30 different businesses now, embedding with their teams to support on all aspects of both internal and external brand communications.
Ultimately though our approach is about giving businesses more of what academic experts call ‘Strategic Flexibility’, as this is a proven source of competitive advantage, particularly in unpredictable times.
Tell us about a recent business success.
One of our long-standing clients is housing regeneration specialist RE:GEN Group. We first worked with this forward-thinking business in 2020, when the Company was first founded – helping the leadership team define their purpose, brand name and create the visual identity. Every year since then we have collaborated closely as in-house-outsourced marketing partners – managing all aspects of communications across the group and within its subsidiary business.
RE:GEN was recently named the North East’s fastest growing company, for the second year in a row – with annual revenues on track to soon exceed £100m.
As a team we are incredibly proud to have been part of this entire journey, but having helped establish and build the brand through those early start-up and vital challenger brand phases – to now see REGEN Group gaining recognition as the leader in its sector, and across our region, has been hugely rewarding for all of us at Blue Moon.
This story is a great proof of concept for our fractional model and collaborative ways of working, but more importantly to us – it is testament to the true value that effective marketing communication can add to a business when you consciously choose to grow your organisation around a clear purpose, and then invest consistently in ‘living and breathing’ this DNA & values every single day with all key stakeholders including: colleagues, clients, their customers and the end consumer.
How has being a Chamber member impacted your growth and networking opportunities?
Within the professional services arena, networking is a vital part of helping you form and develop relationships with people or organisations to establish whether you both feel there is a genuine chemistry / synergy to work together in the future.
We are no different in this regard, and we’re very proud of the fact that 100% of our work to date has come via referrals. Becoming a Chamber member is a key part of us continuing to raise the profile of Blue Moon and meet potential future collaborators. The diverse calendar of events offered by the Chamber was key to our decision to join.
In our view, networking isn’t always about ‘doing business’ though. Blue Moon has grown year-on-year and will continue to do so. But at this point in our own growth journey, joining the Chamber is as much an opportunity to learn from our peers, share insight, better understand the challenges we are ALL facing as business leaders in this region, and of course – understand how our own skills/expertise can continue to evolve in order to enable us to solve business problems for our clients and create tangible value through the design of effective communications.
