Give us a brief overview of your business.
The North East’s leading procurement solutions platform. Governed by the 12 North East Local Authorities, NEPO delivers innovative, digitally- driven procurement solutions for the public sector. We collaborate with a diverse network of suppliers, from SMEs to global corporations, to meet the needs of public sector purchasing. In simple terms, we help our members access a wide range of goods and services while ensuring maximum cost efficiency and value.
Tell us about a recent business success.
We are incredibly proud of the successful launch of our brand-new online purchasing platform, Open. Developed in close collaboration with local authorities, our team dedicated the past six years to creating a digital solution that streamlines public purchasing while enhancing transparency. Open is the culmination of that hard work.
Since its launch, all 12 North East Local Authorities have successfully transitioned to the platform, and we’ve exceeded our target of registered suppliers for 2024, with over 10,000 suppliers now using the solution. The platform’s strong uptake and success are a testament to the efforts of our team of experts, who have worked together to deliver innovative, effective solutions that benefit both our members and the wider region.
How has being a Chamber member impacted your growth and networking opportunities?
Being a Chamber member has greatly enhanced our networking opportunities and visibility within the region. We’ve been able to build strong relationships with local businesses and suppliers, which has further strengthened our procurement processes. Additionally, the Chamber’s events and resources have allowed us to stay up-to-date with industry trends, collaborate with key stakeholders, and explore new business opportunities that support our mission of delivering value to the public sector.
