North East Chamber of Commerce response to the proposed Mayoral Development Zone in Durham

In response to the North East Mayor’s plans to establish a Mayoral Development Zone in Durham City, John McCabe, chief executive of the North East Chamber of Commerce, said:
“The creation of a Mayoral Development Zone in Durham has the potential to accelerate investment and support job creation in this part of our region.
“Focused development zones like this can play an important role in bringing forward regeneration and giving businesses the confidence to invest, particularly when they help unlock key urban sites and strengthen city centre economies.
“For our members, the priority will be ensuring that this approach translates into real opportunities for local companies, supports sustainable growth and helps Durham continue to thrive as both a place to do business and a place to live and visit.”
