Commenting on confirmation of the A19 Moor Farm Junction scheme, John McCabe, chief executive, North East Chamber of Commerce, said:

“We warmly welcome confirmation that the A19 Moor Farm Junction scheme is set to be included for development within the forthcoming third Road Investment Strategy, with a clear pathway towards delivery in the fourth Road Investment Strategy.

“The upgrade of Moor Farm roundabout will unlock growth in a key part of the North East corridor.

“Congratulations to Emma Foody MP for tirelessly campaigning on this – including securing reform to the Treasury’s Green Book as a crucial step – and getting this over the line.

“This announcement is a significant step forward for a project the Chamber has long championed on behalf of our members and the wider regional economy. Moor Farm is a critical pinch point on one of the North East’s most important strategic routes, and investment here will unlock improved connectivity, reduce congestion and support safer, more reliable journeys for businesses and communities alike.

“We look forward to engaging constructively in the forthcoming consultation and continuing to work with partners to ensure the scheme is delivered – with spades in the ground – as quickly as possible, helping to unlock the full economic potential of the North East and its communities.”
