Harris Brick Safety Systems is a UK-based construction safety innovation company dedicated to improving site safety, reducing material waste, and transforming temporary wall support within the construction industry. Founded by Carl Harris following a life-changing on-site accident, the company was established with a clear mission: to eliminate the risks associated with traditional brick wall bracing methods through practical, engineered safety solutions.
Our flagship product, The Brick Bud, is a patented wall-bracing system designed to provide superior stability for newly constructed brick and block walls. Engineered to withstand high wind loads while being quick and easy to install, the system helps prevent wall collapses, protects workers, reduces costly rebuilds, and supports compliance with modern health and safety standards.
Working with leading housebuilders, contractors, colleges, and training providers across the UK, Harris Brick Safety Systems is helping drive higher standards of construction safety while supporting the industry’s sustainability goals by significantly reducing waste, embodied carbon, and avoidable financial losses caused by wall failures.

Tell us about a recent business success.
A recent highlight for Harris Brick Safety Systems has been the continued growth and recognition of our patented Brick Bud wall-bracing system, which is now available through Jewson Hire, making it more accessible to contractors and house builders across the UK.
We’re also proud to have secured a new innovation grant to collaborate with Leeds Beckett University on the next generation of construction safety technology. Alongside this, we’ve been awarded a SMART Grant, enabling us to accelerate research and development and bring new safety innovations to market through collaboration between industry and academia.
Beyond product development, we’ve expanded our work with further education colleges, helping to equip the next generation of construction professionals with safer working practices. Our innovation has also attracted international interest, including opportunities in Australia, and we’ve been honoured with multiple awards recognising our commitment to safety and innovation.
These achievements reflect our ambition to make construction sites safer, drive innovation across the industry, and continue growing from our North East roots.
How has being a Chamber member impacted your growth and networking opportunities?
Since joining the Chamber of Commerce, Natalie , Chris and Helen have been remarkable. Being a member of the North East Chamber of Commerce has already had a positive impact on our business. The Chamber has created valuable networking opportunities and introduced us to key contacts who share our commitment to improving safety within the construction industry.
Through the Chamber, we’re in the process of arranging a meeting with our local MP to discuss the need for safer temporary wall-bracing systems and how innovation can help improve safety standards across the construction sector. We’ve also received excellent support from our Account Manager, who has been proactive in making introductions and helping us build relationships that will support our future growth.
As an innovative North East business, we see the Chamber as a valuable partner in helping us raise awareness, influence industry change, and connect with organisations that can make a real difference.
