The Tempus Northumberland Recognised in MICHELIN Guide 2026
Northumberland hotel The Tempus has been selected for the MICHELIN Guide 2026, marking another significant achievement for the hotel since opening it's doors in 2023.
Set within The Doxford Group's private 550-acre country estate near the Northumberland coast, The Tempus has been recognised in the MICHELIN Guide Selection 2026, highlighting the quality of the experience offered to guests and the dedication of its team.
Since opening, The Tempus has quickly established itself as a destination for luxury stays, dining and memorable countryside experiences, achieving national recognition in just three years.
The latest MICHELIN Guide selection follows The Tempus being named VisitEngland Small Hotel of the Year 2026, as well as Small Hotel of the Year at the North East Tourism Awards 2026. The hotel has also been shortlisted for Small Hotel of the Year 2027 by Experience North East England, continuing a strong period of recognition for the hotel and its team.
At the heart of The Tempus experience is its focus on Northumberland, with the hotel championing local produce, seasonal ingredients and regional suppliers through its dining offering. Group Head Chef, Cheryl Radwell leads the culinary direction across The Doxford Group, bringing more than 20 years of hospitality experience and a passion for seasonal, local sourced cooking.
Cheryl and her team work closely with local suppliers to showcase the best of Northumberland produce, contributing to the region's Taste of Northumberland offering and creating menus that reflect the seasons and character of the area.
Richard Parker, General Manager at The Tempus, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for everyone at The Tempus and a real reflection of the passion and commitment of our team. Since joining the team, I’ve been incredibly impressed by the standards and attention to detail across every part of the guest experience. To be recognised by the MICHELIN Guide is something we can all be incredibly proud of, and we’re excited to continue building on this.”
Richard Shell, CEO and Owner of The Doxford Group, said: “This is a huge achievement for the whole team. The Tempus only opened its doors in 2023 and, since then, we’ve gone on to achieve national recognition, most recently being named VisitEngland Small Hotel of the Year 2026 and now being selected in the MICHELIN Guide 2026. It’s a fantastic reflection of what the team has built in such a short time, and I’m incredibly proud of what we are creating.”
The MICHELIN Guide recognition marks another exciting milestone for The Tempus and The Doxford Group, as the team continues to build on its reputation for exceptional hospitality, dining and experiences in Northumberland. With a continued focus on local produce, warm service and creating memorable stays, The Tempus looks forward to welcoming guests to experience what makes the hotel and restaurant a special part of the Northumberland coast.
