Wander Films secures minority investment from S4C
The investment marks a significant milestone for the North East-founded studio and will support expansion across content marketing, branded entertainment, digital content and TV, while retaining Wander’s independent leadership and creative direction.
The news follows a period of strong momentum for Wander, including selection for Channel 4’s Emerging Indie Fund, participation in the Channel 4 Business Boost programme and the BBC’s Digital Accelerator.
Founded by Chloë Clover and Lou Tonner, Wander has built a reputation for bold, personality-led content that audiences choose. The studio works with brands and organisations including Greggs, KPMG and the British Library, alongside delivering projects for broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
As brands increasingly compete for attention in the same spaces as creators and broadcasters, Wander has positioned itself at the centre of that shift, developing entertainment-led content and IP designed to #BeatTheScroll®.
Chloë Clover, CEO and Co-founder of Wander Films, said: “We’ve built Wander by focusing on making content people want to watch, not just what brands think they need to make. The lines between brand, platform and broadcast have blurred, and that’s where we operate best. This investment gives us the backing to push further into that space and keep building something really exciting.”
The funding will support the development of original IP, expansion into new markets, and continued momentum across Wander’s work in content marketing, digital and TV. Earlier this year, Wander also launched Unthinkable, a self-published YouTube series exploring the outer limits of human survival, resilience and willpower, marking the beginning of a wider slate of original formats currently in development.
Wander has also strengthened its senior leadership support, with Richard Johnston joining as Non-Executive Director, bringing experience as former CEO of Endemol Shine UK, and Mark Raeburn supporting the business as CFO, having previously served as Director of Programme Finance at Channel 4.
Wander already works with a number of Welsh partners and clients across branded content and broadcast, with the investment expected to support further growth and collaboration in Wales over the coming years.
Geraint Evans, CEO of S4C said: “Wander represents a new kind of content studio that understands how audiences engage today. Their ability to produce audience-first content across marketing, social media, digital platforms and broadcast makes them an exciting company to support, and S4C looks forward to being part of their next stage of growth.”
The minority investment marks the next phase of expansion for Wander, with S4C coming on board as a strategic partner aligned with the founder-led vision the company was built on.
