Our 1815 dinner and lunch events, a nod to our founding year, consistently bring together more than 150 senior leaders from the largest and most influential businesses across the North East — and are some of the region's highest profile business events.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

The North East Chamber of Commerce is delighted to welcome Jimmy McLoughlin OBE, broadcaster, entrepreneur and host of Jimmy's Jobs of the Future.

Ten years ago, Jimmy was working in Downing Street, advising the Prime Minister on business and entrepreneurship. Since then, his career has taken him from government and entrepreneurship into the world of media, technology and the future of work. Today, Jimmy spends much of his time exploring how our economy is changing, and what those changes mean for jobs, careers and opportunity.

Through his Jimmy's Jobs of the Future podcast, he has interviewed everyone from Prime Ministers and CEOs to scientists and entrepreneurs. What began as a lockdown project that Jimmy thought might help him find his next job has become his job — exploring how work is changing and what that means for all of us.

At this event, Jimmy will explore the forces reshaping the world of work and the implications for businesses, leaders and individuals across the North East. He will examine why we have a million young people outside work and education, what AI actually means for jobs beyond both the hype and the doom, and why we need to do more to build great companies.

For businesses across the North East, these questions are particularly important. As technology changes the nature of work, employers face both significant opportunities and challenges around productivity, skills, recruitment and talent. Understanding where jobs are heading — and how people can prepare for them — will be central to the region's future economic success.
