This event series aims to foster collaborative thinking and strengthen relationships across our Partner group.
Partners play a crucial role in shaping our policy work and we see these events as vital for facilitating collaborative thinking across the group, and an exclusive platform for you to come together and for us to provide you with updates on our work. We will welcome local and national decision makers, businesspeople and inspirational figures to challenge our thinking throughout the year.
Agenda:
This month we’re joined by Tom Riordan CBE, the government's envoy for the northern growth corridor.
In the role, Riordan will work across government departments, with mayors and other external partners to co-develop a plan to support growth and investment across the north.
There will be opportunity for open discussion, with Tom keen to hear feedback on the following:
What is currently preventing businesses or investors from committing capital to the North East, and what would give them the confidence to invest?
Which skills and workforce challenges are most constraining business expansion in the North East, and what would help address them?
What would help more North East businesses scale up, rather than having to relocate or seek investment elsewhere?
Where does the North East have the strongest competitive advantage, and what is needed to turn that advantage into faster growth and investment?
More broadly, if government could make one change over the next 2-3 years that would have the greatest impact on growth and investment in the North East, what should it be?
Venue: Lumo, Orchard Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3AZ
Behaviour and conduct: our events create an inclusive space for individuals and organisations to meet, where we expect all our attendees to behave with courtesy and respect, to both each other and Chamber colleagues.
Join the North East Chamber of Commerce this September and October for a three-part conference mini-series exploring how the ambitions of Unlocking the North East Economy are being translated into action.
