We have launched our Inspiring Women in Business Awards 2026, inviting Chamber members from across the region to celebrate the outstanding women, businesses and role models helping to shape the North East’s economy

The Chamber has revealed the shortlist for its Inspiring Women in Business Awards 2025, celebrating women across the region who are driving change, innovation and growth.

Inspirational stories of resilience, leadership and action were shared at the North East Chamber of Commerce’s Inspiring Women in Business Conference, sponsored by digital infrastructure specialists Pulsant.

As North East businesses, we stand for more than local economic growth, we believe in building workplaces where equality thrives. While Women’s Equality Day (26th of August) is traditionally a U.S. observance, commemorating the 19th Amendment, it offers us in the UK a meaningful opportunity to reflect on and recommit to gender equality in our own region.

As we look towards a more sustainable future, one key factor often overlooked is gender equality.

Over 100 women from across the North East’s business community gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) at the Chamber’s Inspiring Women in Business event, highlighting the achievements of women and the steps needed to drive gender equality forward. 

Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of women to society, industry, and business. The North East has a rich history of women who have shaped its economy, driven innovation, and paved the way for future generations. From industrial pioneers to retail magnates, their influence can still be felt today.

The Chamber has launched its 2025 Inspiring Women in Business programme with an event focused on opportunities for women in the green energy sector.

The region’s most inspiring females and businesses have been given top honours at a Chamber awards ceremony.
