EU VAT, Scope 3 Emissions and Regulatory Changes all Discussed in our Latest Trade Forum

Recap from our Autumn International Trade Forum at the Port of Tyne.

The fantastic Innovation Hub at the Port of Tyne played host to our Autumn International Trade Forum on 24th September.  Coinciding with the World Maritime Day, roughly 20 attendees and businesses came along to hear about the latest developments in the world of international trade, learn from our guest speakers, and discuss their wins, concerns and thoughts.

From EU VAT to Scope 3 Emissions

For this Forum, our guest speakers brought brilliant insight and knowledge on two very different areas.

Firstly, we heard from Jonny Dark from Obsit who discussed their approach to calculating Scope 3 emissions, the difficulties they’ve faced, and the commercial advantage they’ve found, due to being ahead of the game when it comes to calculating and reporting these emissions.

Following Jonny, we heard from Hydeam Sulton from Clive Owen who discussed some of the key considerations when it comes to accounting for VAT in the EU.  The conversation touched on the different requirements when selling goods and services, and the points to remember when it comes to registering for VAT in the EU.

In our final forum of 2026, we will be visiting Teesside International Airport to hear about their developments in cargo, as well as representatives from the Digital Trade Testbed on the future of digital trade documents and the Economic Security team at the Department for Business, Innovation, Science & Trade.  Importantly, we will as always make time to hear from you so you can share your experiences and provide a space for like-minded businesses to support each other.

The forum is taking place on Wednesday 25th November and is open to all of our international trade members.  You can book your place now by clicking here.
