Give us a brief overview of your business.
We’re NEL Fund Managers, a North East–headquartered investment firm supporting regional SMEs with bespoke finance since 1989.
To date, we’ve backed over 1,000 businesses, taking a relationship-led approach to help ambitious teams grow, create value and achieve long-term success. With offices in Gateshead and Stockton, we combine local decision-making with strong regional insight to deliver clear, timely funding support.
We typically invest from £25,000 up to £2m, supporting everything from early-stage businesses through to established companies looking to scale - either directly or alongside other investors.
Tell us about a recent business success.
We are delighted to announce that British Business Bank have recently boosted our funds by £21.5 million to invest in growing businesses across the North of England!
We have invested £17m in some of the region’s most ambitious businesses over the past two years and the investments made have leveraged an additional £4.5m in private funds and expect to create over 350 direct jobs from the companies invested in.
This additional capital allows us to further expand our impact by investing in more aspiring, growth-minded companies operating in sectors essential to the UK economy.
How has being a Chamber member impacted your growth and networking opportunities?
Being part of the Chamber has really helped raise our profile across the region. It gives us regular opportunities to attend events, grow our network and build relationships with like-minded businesses.
It’s also a valuable platform for sharing our story and successes more widely, as well as making trusted introductions - something that will be particularly helpful as we continue to strengthen partnerships across the North East.
