Northern Cancer Voices (NCV) is the North East’s cancer lived‑experience charity, founded and led by people personally affected by cancer. We work to make cancer care more accessible, equitable and patient‑centred by:
- Removing practical barriers such as fuel poverty, food insecurity and transport challenges
- Helping the NHS, ICS and partners design better cancer pathways through real lived‑experience insights
- Supporting vulnerable households with Priority Services Register sign‑ups, CO safety education, Treat, Heat or Eat crisis support and targeted community outreach
- Amplifying voices from underserved communities to tackle health inequalities across the region

Our work sits at the intersection of health, poverty, and vulnerability — where cancer outcomes are most impacted.

Tell us about a recent business success.

  • Named in the 2026 Most Influential CEO Awards, recognising outstanding leadership in driving social impact, community engagement and health equity across the North East.
  • Two-time winner of Best Peer Support Group at the UK Mental Health Awards.
  • Awarded the Cramlington Town Council Charity Award for community contribution.
  • Invited to 10 Downing Street for World Cancer Day celebrations and recognition of NCV’s work.

How has being a Chamber member impacted your growth and networking opportunities?

We are still in the early stages of fully leveraging our Chamber membership. However, it has provided a valuable foundation, raising awareness of NCV within a much wider business network and giving us opportunities to listen, learn and connect with leaders across the region. As we increase our focus on ESG, CSR and corporate partnerships in 2026, we expect our Chamber membership to become a much more active driver of visibility, collaboration and investment. We are now looking to work more closely with the Chamber team to maximise the value of our membership through targeted introductions, profile-raising opportunities and engagement with businesses aligned to health, wellbeing and social impact.
