Sporting and related leisure activities account for around 1.5% of employment in the North East. This reflects jobs in fields such as leisure centres, sports clubs and coaching, athletic events and related services across the community.
Sport sits at the intersection of health, tourism, regeneration, skills, and community development. When these elements are connected effectively, sport becomes a powerful economic driver, place-making asset and commercial platform.
