Mandatory eFiling from 8th July for US Imports of Consumer Products
From 8th July, all regulated consumer products entering the US require mandatory eFiling, an electronically filed Certificate of Compliance through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
This new requirement covers all consumer products that require mandatory safety standards and certification including de minimis shipments. What products are affected? Toys, children clothing, cribs, strollers, child restraints (car seats), children’s furniture, power tools, electrical appliances, cigarette lighters, fireworks, smoke detectors, upholstered furniture, and other consumer products subject to mandatory CPSC safety standards.
CPSC has published a list of 600 HTS that are believed to require eFiling. However, it is important to note that this does not cover all HTS codes.
